A slow chart, delayed price update or unresponsive order window can be caused by the local device, internet connection, network route, platform installation or current market conditions. Use the checks below before reinstalling MT4.
Check the connection
- Look at the MT4 connection indicator in the lower-right corner.
- Confirm that prices in Market Watch are updating.
- Test another trusted website or app.
- Restart the router and device if the connection is unstable.
- If permitted, compare Wi-Fi with a wired or alternative network.
- Temporarily disconnect an optional VPN or proxy to test whether it is adding delay.
Check the device and platform
- Close unnecessary programs, browser tabs and downloads.
- Check whether the device is low on memory or storage.
- Reduce the number of open charts and resource-intensive indicators.
- Make sure MT4 and the operating system are up to date.
- Test the same account on another supported device, without sharing your password.
Consider current market conditions
Fast markets, major news, market openings and low-liquidity periods can produce rapid price changes, wider spreads or fewer available quotes. These conditions can feel like platform delay even when the connection remains active.
Contact Support
If the issue continues, provide your account number, device and operating system, MT4 version, internet connection type, assigned server, affected symbol, exact platform time, screenshots and the relevant Journal entry. Explain whether charts, quotes, login or order submission were affected.
