An MT4 account can have two passwords: the trading (master) password provides full account access, while the investor password is read-only and cannot be used to place or manage trades.
Change a password in MT4 for desktop
- Sign in to the correct MT4 account using your current trading password.
- Select Tools → Options.
- Open the Server tab and select Change.
- Enter your current trading password.
- Select either Change master password or Change investor (read-only) password.
- Enter the new password twice, then select OK.
- Sign out and sign in again to confirm the new password works.
Password rules are controlled by the trading server. If MT4 rejects the new password, follow the requirements shown by the platform and avoid using personal information or a password used for another service.
Reset a password through the RockGlobal Client Portal
If a reset option is available for your account:
- Log in to the RockGlobal Client Portal.
- Go to Assets → Account Management.
- Find the relevant MT4 account and open its actions.
- Select the option to reset the trading password or investor password.
- Complete the verification steps, then sign in to MT4 using the new password.
Menu names may vary slightly as the portal is updated.
If you have forgotten the current password
Use the reset option in the Client Portal or contact RockGlobal Client Support. For security, you may need to verify your identity before access can be restored.
Protect your account
- Use a unique password that is different from your email and Client Portal passwords.
- Do not share your trading password with anyone.
- Use the investor password when read-only access is sufficient.
- RockGlobal Client Support will never ask you to send your password by email or chat.
