Most MT4 sign-in problems are caused by an incorrect account number, password or server. Work through the checks below in order.
1. Check the login
- Enter the MT4 trading account number, not your email address or client-portal username.
- Remove any spaces before or after the number.
- Confirm that you are using the details for the intended live or demo account.
2. Check the password
- Use the MT4 trading password, not the RockGlobal client-portal password.
- Passwords are case-sensitive. Retype the password instead of relying on an old saved entry.
- An investor password provides read-only access. Use the trading password if you need to place or manage orders.
- If the password was recently reset, close the login window and enter the new password again.
3. Check the server
Select the exact server shown in your original RockGlobal account-opening email. A live account will not connect through a demo server, and a demo account will not connect through a live server. If you cannot find the email, contact RockGlobal Support to confirm the server assigned to your account.
If the server is missing, select File → Open an Account, search using the exact broker or server name shown in your RockGlobal account-opening email, scan for it and then return to Login to Trade Account.
4. Check the connection
- Confirm that other websites or apps can access the internet.
- Restart MT4 after checking the credentials.
- If you use a work network, VPN, firewall or proxy, try a permitted alternative connection or ask the network administrator whether MT4 traffic is blocked.
- Check the connection indicator in the lower-right corner of MT4.
What common messages usually mean
- Invalid account or authorization failed: recheck the login, password and server combination.
- No connection: check the internet connection, server selection, firewall, VPN or proxy.
- Account visible but trading unavailable: confirm that you used the trading password rather than the investor password, and check whether the market is open and the account is enabled.
Still unable to sign in?
Reset the MT4 password through the RockGlobal client portal if available. If the problem continues, contact RockGlobal Support and provide:
- MT4 account number;
- device and operating system;
- MT4 desktop or mobile app version;
- selected server;
- exact error message and time of the attempt; and
- a screenshot of the error or the relevant Journal entry.
Never send your password. Reinstalling MT4 is usually unnecessary until the login, password, server and connection have been checked.
